The Cromarty Hut – Coastal Charm Meets Highland Craft
Client: Ourselves
The Cromarty Hut holds a truly special place in our story. Built while we were living on the Black Isle, near the charming village of Cromarty and overlooking the firth, it was our very first “proper” Shepherd’s Hut — and one that would go on to inspire many future builds.
Designed with coastal beauty in mind, this hut features distressed exterior paintwork that echoes the weathered charm of seaside cottages. Inside, a calming colour palette draws from the surrounding shoreline — washed pebbles, sea-worn driftwood, — creating a relaxing and timeless space that feels like a true coastal retreat.
The Cromarty quickly became one of our most requested styles, forming the footprint for what is now our ‘Classic’ model Shepherd’s Hut. Over the years, we’ve crafted several variations of this design, each one thoughtfully tailored to reflect our customers’ individual tastes, while staying true to the essence of the original.
In fact, one Cromarty Hut has even made its way back to its namesake village, where it may still be available to stay in as a Highlands Airbnb getaway.
Whether you’re dreaming of a coastal-inspired cabin, a garden retreat, or a unique holiday rental, the Cromarty Hut proves that timeless style and handcrafted detail never go out of fashion.
