Hannah – Off-Grid Comfort with Highland Heart

Client: S&V

Named by our clients in honour of The Red Shepherdess, Hannah is a low-powered, off-grid shepherd hut designed for complete independence without compromising on comfort or character. Powered by a 5kW diesel generator—capable of running on red diesel, which at the time of writing is more affordable than standard electricity—this hut offers practical sustainability wrapped in timeless rural charm.

Inside, you’ll find a thoughtfully designed composting toilet in the shower room and a cleverly integrated pull-out bed, upholstered in the customer's own chosen fabric. A handcrafted workbench and nesting tables provide versatility and rustic style, while the living space is warmed by the delightful Apple Pie wood stove, complete with a hotplate and cooking rack for off-grid baking and fireside cuppas!

A true highlight of The Hannah is the beautiful corner kitchen, designed with both form and function in mind. The layout maximises space while offering hand-made, larch work surfaces and built-in storage. The kitchen’s colour scheme—a charming blend of pine wood with calming green cabinetry—brings sophistication, warmth and personality to the space, echoing the surrounding Highland landscape and enhancing the cosy, homely feel of the hut.

The Hannah offers a beautifully handcrafted off-grid retreat—perfect for reconnecting with nature in comfort and style, wherever the road (or track) may lead.
